CROPS Oct 1, 2004 12:00 PM New inoculant Becker Underwood, Ames, IA, says that Vault, its new inoculant and growth stimulant, is the first inoculant for soybeans and peanuts featuring BioStacked technology. BioStacked inoculant technology is a system that combines multiple biological ingredients to achieve better performance. The ingredients that have been stacked in Vault include advanced strains of rhizobia for root nodulation and nitrogen fixation; biofungicide to protect crops from soilborne diseases and stimulate the plant's natural defense mechanisms; plant activator that stimulates young seedlings for faster establishment; and extender that increases the soybean inoculant on-seed shelf life up to 30 days, providing farmers with planting schedule flexibility. BioStacked technology is compatible with soybean and peanut crop protection products such as ApronMaxx RTA and Cruiser (pending registration for soybeans). New fungicide for wheat Advanced Biological Marketing, Van Wert, OH, claims its new companion fungicide, T-22 for wheat, increases yield while protecting wheat from disease for the entire growing season. T-22 contains a strain of the fungus Trichoderma harzianum rifai developed at Cornell University and proven, according to the company, to protect wheat plants from soilborne pathogens Pythium, Fusarium, Sclerotinia and Rhizoctonia. T-22 is both EPA approved and certified organic. It is designed to work best when used in conjunction with a traditional fungicide. |
