What's new equipment

Feb 15, 2003 12:00 PM

High-capacity Brandt

The company designed this new suspended-boom, 1,600-gal. pull-type sprayer to compete with self-propelled models. The new sprayer features a four-stage breakaway boom that prevents touchdowns on rolling terrain. A four-pin, self-leveling pendulum boom maintains constant tip-to-target height for uniform chemical coverage. Select from boom spans of 80 to 100 ft. Boom heights range from 17 to 72 in. Prices range from $28,000 to $32,000, depending on options. Contact Brandt, Box 317, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada S4P 3A1, 866/427-2638, visit www.freeproductinfo.net/fin.

Trailer sprayer

Check out this new 1,250-gal. Wylie trailer sprayer equipped with a 60-, 80- or 90-ft. Spray Wyng boom or a 60-ft. Roy Wyng boom. These booms feature a dampened gimbal suspension to dampen or control movement of the boom in three dimensions. The Roy Wyng boom may be tilted 15∞ for use in rolling terrain, or one side may be folded to clear obstructions. The sprayer may be equipped with a foam marker, Raven GPS system, DATAboy or Viper color touch-screen console. Suggested list price for a complete spraying system with a 60-ft. boom is $26,950. Contact Wylie Mfg. Co., Box 100, Petersburg, TX 79250, 800/722-4001, visit www.wyliesprayers.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin.

Horizontal conveyor

Sudenga Industries introduces an easy system for unloading seed from hopper tanks. The friction surface belting has an S wrap drive and rides on an expanded metal slider bed. Steel return rollers with ball bearings are spaced at 10-ft. intervals. The conveyor includes head, tail and intermediate sections. The distance from the conveyor outlet to the center of the last bin determines the required length of the intermediate section. Contact Sudenga Industries Inc., Box 8, George, IA 51237, 712/475-3301, visit www.sudenga.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin.

In-field service

Two new pieces of equipment could help cut applicator downtime. Feterl Manufacturing now makes a fuel and lube trailer for quick in-field greasing, oil changing or topping off hydraulic fluids. The trailer has four 65-gal. tanks. Three may be used for products; the fourth is for waste oil. Options include a 125-lb. grease pack and metering system. It lists for $14,500.

For bigger field maintenance jobs, Feterl makes a service truck that fits on a Class 3, 4 or 5 chassis. The service body picture includes a 4,000-lb. crane, manual, outriggers and 10- and 14-gauge body construction. Sold factory direct, it retails for about $24,000. Contact Feterl Mfg. Corp., 411 Center Ave. W., Salem, SD 57058, 800/367-8660, visit www.ferterl.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin.

Gentle squeeze

A new truck-unloading conveyor moves grain by gently squeezing it between two crescent-top, 16-in-wide belts. The belts compress the grain to prevent rollback so that the grain can be moved up steeper inclines. Company representative John Bohnker says the new Squeeze Belt Conveyor will move grain at up to a 40° incline. Grain stops flowing in standard augers at 25° to 30° inclines.

Bohnker says the conveyor will move up to 10,000 bu./hr. and maintain constant capacity. He adds that the grain receives less damage because it does not touch the sides of an auger.

The conveyor is available in 36-, 46-, 56- and 76-ft. lengths. It features a galvanized tube with A-frame undercarriage. Suggested retail price for a 76-ft. model is $13,500. Contact Eagle Concepts, 102 Hannah Circle, Underwood, IA 51576, 712/566-2096, visit www.freeproductinfo.net/fin.

Move clogged grain

Here's a handy new “persuader” for dislodging grain and other materials from the sides of hoppers, bins and bunkers. The Hopper Hammer is a totally enclosed, automated electromechanical device that generates discreet impacts that approximate the blow of a sledgehammer against a strike plate.

Unlike high-frequency, low-impact vibrators, the Hopper Hammer won't compact and stratify material. An upgrade of the old SR-A1 precipitator “rapper,” the Hopper Hammer includes a controller that lets you vary intensity (1 to 25 ft.-lbs.), duration and operating intervals. Running on 110 VAC, the new version is easy to move to problem areas as needed, or it can be hooked up in an “intelligent” system of multiple Hopper Hammers that respond to devices such as level detectors, evacuation systems or alarms. Price per unit is $866. Contact AVC Specialists Inc., Box 23280, Shawnee Mission, KS 66283-0280, 888/803-5865, visit www.avcspecialists.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin.
