Jul 1, 2002 12:00 PM

Big bins from Behlen

A new 36-ft.-dia. hopper bin is on the market from Behlen Mfg. Co. It includes a large roof opening, four rows of bolts on vertical seams and heavy hat-shaped outside stiffeners. Unique trapezoidal wall panels have been computer-designed for a full bearing connection — flat surface to flat surface — for a tighter connection and greater strength.

For more information, contact Russ Ferris, Behlen Mfg. Co. P.O. Box 569, Columbus, NE 68601, 402/564-3111.

New belt conveyors

The Hutchinson and Mayrath Divisions of Global Industries introduce new belt conveyor systems, available in 35-, 60- and 70-ft. models. The two larger conveyors feature hydraulic lift systems. Other features include heavy-duty aircraft cable trussing support, galvanized main housings and low horsepower requirements. Belts are two-ply 15-in. Crescent Top PVC with nylon slider back, rated at 3,000 hours.

For more information, call 800-523-6993 or write to Hutchinson or Mayrath, Box 629, Clay Center, KS 67432, Web sites: www.hutchweb.com, or www.mayrath.com.

New grain dryers

Two new models, featuring Vacuum Cool Design have been added to the Mathews Company dryer lineup. The 101050 and 10730 models use new internal 1,750-rpm fans for quiet operation. Air heated during the drying process is reused, lowering energy costs. A new option is the remote control cabinet with an integrated moisture monitoring system and chart recorder.

For more information, contact Mathews Company, Box 70, Crystal Lake, IL 60039, 815/459-5889, www.mathewscompany.com.

Inclined drag conveyors

Galvanized GSI Series I conveyors are available with several options. Standard features include a take-up assembly on the head for accessibility, large-profile UHMW paddles with 2.609- or 4-in. pitch roller-brushed chains. The center pan is constructed of 10-gauge steel with a removable 8-gauge bottom. The 13-in. and 17-in. conveyors feature 10-gauge sides; 8-gauge is used on the 21-in. conveyor. Options include a welded bar grating with grain deflectors provided in 2-in.-wide sections. Other options include 15-, 30- and 45-degree bend sections, bypass dump hoppers in 6-, 8- and 10-ft. lengths, 28-in. bypass inlets and manual or electric discharge gates. For more information, contact GSI Group Inc., Box 20, 1004 E. Illinois St., Assumption, IL 62510, www.grainsystems.com.

Sukup's stiffened bins

Sukup Manufacturing Co. is adding stiffened bins to its 2002 lineup. They're available in sizes from 18-ft., 10-ring to 60-ft., 10-ring, with 12-ring-high bins available in 18- to 36-ft. dia. Like the Sukup standard bin, the roofs on the stiffened models have 4-ft. ribs for strength and deep corrugations on the flat surface for rigidity. In addition, the stiffened roofs are supported by a specially designed roof substructure, says bin Sales Manager John Kerr. Sukup is also introducing new hopper bins this year.

For more information, contact Kerr at Sukup Manufacturing Co., 1555 255th St., Box 677, Sheffield, IA 50475, 641/892-4222, e-mail: jkerr@sukup.com.

Looking for an alternative to tarps for covering grain piles? Chief Industries offers the new Big Chief, billed as the “world's largest corrugated steel structure.” The cone-shaped cover is available in capacities up to 1,500,000 bushels and can be built to your specs with Caldwell handling and aeration equipment. For more information, contact: Chief Agri/industrial division, Box 848, Kearney, NE, www.agri.chiefind.com, e-mail: agri@chiefind.com.

Swing-away grain augers

The new SA Swing-Away Hopper grain augers from Wheatheart Manufacturing Ltd. come in 10-in.-dia. and 61-, 71-, 81- and 91-ft. lengths. Features include a CV PTO driveshaft; gear-drive, low-profile swing hopper and a hydraulic scissor-lift undercarriage, with adjustable axles on larger models. All models have easily replaceable wear-edge flighting on high-wear areas, shear bolt protection and a large clean-out door.
