Greater field precision, with less operator stress

Jul 1, 2004 12:00 PM

Accuracy and simplicity are key features of the new FieldPilot automated-steering and rate-control system from Midwest Technologies. Introduced last year, the FieldPilot is an integrated GPS system, explains company marketing director Rich Gould. “It's a professional-grade system, originally developed for custom applicators, so it's durable, easy to use and allows clean installation — with fewer cables and just one console in the cab.”

The system is also ideal for farmers who want the benefits of precision rate control and the convenience of autosteer, he adds. “We offer a range of accuracy levels — from one foot to one inch — based on the user's need.

“Our system is designed to make money for producers, specifically over large acreages,” Gould says. “The autosteer feature helps improve application accuracies and reduce product waste. With autosteer, the operator can pay more attention to the herbicide or fertilizer application. You can actually operate at slightly faster speeds with this system and still maintain precision.”

The FieldPilot works with the company's existing Legacy 6000 console, so you have just one control box for all GPS-based functions. It can also be interfaced with other rate-control systems. Your choice of a console-mounted button or foot-controlled floor switch is all that's needed to activate the autosteer function.
