Hone technical skills

Dec 1, 2001 12:00 PM

Looking for ways to keep your professional staff up to date? Look no further than BASF for a complete package of agronomy training modules that covers everything from bugs to biotech.

A high-quality, four-color manual is the heart of each of 14 training modules on plant protection and production agriculture available on an “as requested” basis, says David P. Davis, technical information manager. In addition, 20 modules are available on BASF crop protection products. Each module also includes a PowerPoint slide set and a quiz to check comprehension.

“We constantly update the materials and add new modules whenever we launch new products. We recently updated the herbicide resistance materials and added new modules on Outlook and Guardsman Max herbicides and Clearfield wheat,” says Davis.

He requests that anyone interested in the training materials contact their local BASF technical service or sales representative to determine best ways to use them. Usually, if enough time is allowed, the BASF representative can help with in-season training.

Davis says the training modules are available to larger companies for distribution to local outlets at a price of $15 per module to cover costs after licensing.

Plant protection and production agriculture training modules include:

  • Basic entomology
  • Basic soils
  • Calibration, application and incorporation of pesticides
  • Cotton production
  • Economic entomology
  • Pesticide registration and plant biotechnology
  • Plant pathology
  • Herbicide mode of action
  • Herbicide resistance in weeds
  • Insecticide mode of action
  • Soil fertility
  • Soybean production
  • Understanding corn production
  • Weed identification
