INDUSTRY Jul 1, 2004 12:00 PM Historic Landmark award The American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE) presented Bobcat Company, West Fargo, ND, along with members of the Keller family, with an agricultural engineering Historic Landmark award for the invention and development of the skid-steer loader. The skid-steer loader was introduced in 1960, developed by Cyril and Louis Keller. In 75 years, the ASAE has only recognized 42 other developments in agriculture engineering in the U.S with the Historic Landmark award. The skid-steer loader becomes the 43rd, alongside John Deere's plow, McCormick's reaper, Eli Whitney's cotton gin, the Luebben round baler and the Holt Brothers' combine. Aerial ag fly-in FMC representatives and Syngenta cosponsored an Operation S.A.F.E. (Self-Regulating Application and Flight Efficiency) clinic at the Mattoon, IL, airport in an effort to learn more about the physics of aerial application and better understand what ag pilots do. Prince joins agronomy team Garst Seed Company, Slater, IA, announces that Robert Prince has joined the company as an area agronomist. Prince will provide technical field support and agronomic expertise to producers in Louisiana and eastern Texas. He spent 17 years as a salesman and technical consultant for the Farm Chemical Group and United Agri Products. |
