What's new products Sep 1, 2002 12:00 PM FARMFEST goers in early August were among the first to kick the tires on the new Redball, 2,400-gal. Model 670 trailer sprayer. The high-clearance sprayer features side-by-side 1,200-gal. tanks and a new 120-ft. boom. The machine comes with Redball's walking-tandem axles for improved flotation. Dual wheels are optional. At a carrier rate of 10-gal./A, the Model 670 can cover 240 acres per fill. “With the 120-ft. boom and an average speed of 8 mph, you can spray about 120 acres per hour,” says Steve Claussen, Redball president. The twin tanks are plumbed together, but have separate sump valves, so they can be used together or separately. The tanks, which have long sloping deep sumps for thorough clean-out, can be agitated together or separately as well. The 120-ft. front-fold boom has a 20-ft. center section, with 50-ft. two-section wings. The Henschen rubber torsion suspension system has been widened to eight feet for additional stability. Standard 80-, 88-, 90- and 100-ft. suspended booms are optional. All booms feature self-leveling center sections, independent hydraulic boom tilt and cushioned breakaway sections at boom ends. Model 670 sprayers also are available in a 1,700-gal. (two 850-gal. tanks) model, as well as models with single 850- and 1,200-gal. tanks. Prices had not been determined at the time of the farm show.
