AmericanCowman.com: Timely, practical production and management strategies that will add efficiency, value, and profitability to cattle herds with up to 100 head.
America's Best Inoculant High Concentrate: Advanced Biological Marketing designed this 3.1-liter high concentrate inoculant specifically for custom soybean seed treatment. Custom treaters planning to apply new insecticides, along with inoculants and fungicides, potentially face wetter seeds coming out of the treater. The new concentrate will allow a full rate of nitrogen-fixing rhizobia at one-third the volume of existing formulations. The result will be greatly reduced bridging and clumping, making pretreating soybeans easier and more effective.
America's Best Inoculant Plus 30 for soybeans: This new product is a liquid additive that extends the postinoculation planting window up to 30 days, even with some fungicide and insecticide combinations. The product works with the liquid formulations of America's Best Inoculant and can be used on other soybean inoculants as well.
Bayer Corporation Agricultural Division
Bayer CropScience will have two effective fungicides available to fight soybean rust: Folicur fungicide, which offers both preventive and postinfection activity, and Stratego fungicide, which offers only preventive activity. Folicur and Stratego have received Section 18 exemptions in specific states for control of Asian soybean rust. Folicur and Stratego are proven to effectively provide residual control of Asian soybean rust. When compared with untreated acres, trials in Brazil show these fungicides control Asian soybean rust, delay plant defoliation and protect yields. Soybean fields in Brazil treated with Folicur and Stratego yielded up to twice as much as untreated soybean acres infected with Asian soybean rust.
Cheminova Inc.
Soybean aphid has now been added to the main label (section 3) of Nufos 4E. Cheminova Dimethoate 4E is a new brand of dimethoate available for spring 2005. With the possibility of a major soybean aphid outbreak, Nufos 4E and Cheminova Dimethoate 4E provide a “one-two” punch: a quick knockdown with Nufos and prolonged, systemic protection with dimethoate.
Dow AgroSciences
Glyphomax XRT and Durango herbicides are labeled for burndown in conventional crops and both burndown and in-crop use on Roundup Ready crops. Both products are surfactant-loaded, 5.4-lb., high-load formulations of glyphosate that allow growers to cover more acres at a lower use rate than 4.0-lb. formulations. Both brands contain the reliable IPA salt.
Laredo EC, Laredo EW and PropiMax fungicides have received Section 18 labels in multiple states for the control of soybean rust. Laredo EC and Laredo EW contain the active ingredient myclobutanil, and PropiMax contains the active ingredient propiconazole. Both fungicides provide preventive and curative control of soybean rust. Proaxis is a next-generation pyrethroid for use in soybeans and other row and specialty crops. Available through leading distributors, Proaxis achieves the same level of insect control at lower rates of active ingredient than previous generations of pyrethroids.
New Silencer insecticide is the first post-patent U.S. registration of lambda-cyhalothrin, a leading pyrethroid insecticide. Silencer received full EPA registration for use on soybeans, plus a variety of other crops including cotton, alfalfa, rice, vegetables, cereals, grain sorghum and peanuts. Silencer delivers quick knockdown and long residual on a wide range of problem pests. It will be available in a 1 EC formulation that can be applied by ground or air.
Syngenta Crop Protection
Sequence herbicide: Now registered for use on soybeans, Sequence herbicide provides knockdown control of existing weeds and residual control of waterhemp, lambsquarters and annual grasses. With two different modes of action, Sequence provides a systemic herbicide and residual herbicide in one container. The product destroys weeds on contact while providing residual control of weeds before they emerge. It is excellent for both no-till and conventional cropping systems, offering control of over 170 emerged weeds.
CruiserMaxx Pak: Cruiser seed treatment insecticide is now approved by the EPA for use on soybeans. CruiserMaxx Pak pairs Cruiser with an ApronMaxx brand seed treatment fungicide, providing protection against a broad spectrum of early-season insects and diseases in soybeans. A commercially applied promotional combination of these two separately registered products, CruiserMaxx Pak delivers better stands, plant vigor, speed to canopy and higher yields. CruiserMaxx Pak protects soybean seeds and seedlings against yield-threatening seed- and foliar-feeding insects and all major seed- and soilborne disease pathogens.
Low Foam Technology for Touchdown Total herbicide: This innovative technology reduces foaming during mixing and tank fill. Developed by formulation chemists at Syngenta, Low Foam Technology works by stabilizing antifoaming agents throughout the glyphosate herbicide. Touchdown Total delivers down-to-the-roots weed control with unique corn-based IQ Technology effectively knocking out more than 170 competitive annuals and perennials in 230 crops, including glyphosate-tolerant corn, soybeans and cotton.
