Sprayer upgrades

CASE IH expands its commercial sprayer lineup with four new floater models. The FLX 20 series floaters offer more power than the previous 10 series floaters and greater operator comfort.

“Our engineers asked customers what they wanted in future Case IH application products,” says Ken Lehmann, Case IH marketing manager for application equipment. “The new FLX floaters are the result of that input.”

Because customers asked for increased performance, Case IH updated its 20 series floaters with larger engines featuring higher horsepower and higher peak torque performance. The three-wheeled FLX3020 and four-wheeled FLX4020 are the smaller applicators and feature a Case IH 9-liter, 305-hp engine with a power bulge to 340 hp, rather than 320 hp in the 10 series floaters. The FLX3520 and FLX4520 are still rated at 365 hp, but their peak torque increased over the previous version to 1,180 ft.-lbs.

The floaters have several technological improvements, including custom control over the multiple fuel injection in the engines and a computer-controlled timer to apply the correct amount of power. The transmission provides improved shifting control, allowing the engine to run at its optimal performance and fuel efficiency.

All four floaters feature a six-speed Allison 3000 RDS automatic transmission with a new shift programmer for turning on end rows. The 3520 and 4520 feature a standard two-speed auxiliary transmission; this is an option on the 3020 and 4020. When coupled to the AxleTech two-speed rear axle, the 20 series drive train offers four speed ranges with six gears in each range.

The 3000 models feature a front fork assembly for strength and durability, and a front axle and spring assembly is included in the 4000 models for a smoother ride.

The cabs of the floaters now have climate control to minimize operator fatigue. The cabs have 67 sq. ft. of tinted glass and a forward-sloped hood for maximum visibility and 113 cu. ft. of interior space for efficient operating.

Prices range from $159,000 for a 305-hp chassis to $295,000 for a 365-hp chassis equipped with a three-bin FLX810 Flex-Air applicator. Contact Case IH, 700 State St., Racine, WI 53404, 262/636-6011, www.caseih.com.
